Product Overview
Our marine cast steel globe valve is a flanged, handwheel-operated valve built to the JIS F7319 10K marine standard. Both ports are flanged to JIS B2220 drilling, the bonnet is bolted rather than welded, and the valve is made in sizes from DN 50 to DN 300 at 0.98 MPa nominal pressure. The body is cast steel rather than cast iron, which is what a working deck calls for: it holds its shape under shock loading, vibration and the pressure spikes that arrive with a pump start.
Where this valve earns its place is control, not simple isolation. Turning the handwheel lifts the disc off its seat, and flow is set by how far the disc travels — so the valve can be held part-open to trim flow at a pump discharge, hold a heater outlet steady, or balance a branch so the far end of the system still gets its share. A cast steel gate valve works differently: it is designed to sit fully open or fully closed, and throttling with one wears the gate and the seat faces. Engine rooms normally carry both, with the gate valve isolating a line and the globe valve regulating it.
The flange pattern is the practical anchor for a replacement. If a drawing or an old nameplate calls for a JIS marine 10K globe valve and the pipe flanges are drilled to JIS B2220, this is the pattern that bolts straight on — same bolt circle, same hole count, no adaptor plates and no re-drilling in a crowded engine room. Sizes follow the standard's steps, so the match is made on size and flange rather than on a superseded catalogue number.
Large-bore isolation is a different conversation, handled by the wedge gate valve manufacturers on the same works, but it is quoted on the same schedule and matched on the same size-and-flange basis.
- Bolted bonnet. The bonnet is bolted to the body, so the joint can be broken in place and the stem, disc and seat reached without cutting the valve out of the line — useful when a repair has to happen during a port call rather than a full refit. - Handwheel operation, exposed stem. No actuator, no air supply and no control loop to fail. The operator turns the handwheel directly, and the exposed stem and thread stay visible for inspection and lubrication. - JIS B2220 flanged ends. Both ports carry the Japanese marine flange pattern, so the valve bolts onto standard JIS pipe flanges with nothing between them but a gasket. - Cast steel body for 10K duty. Cast steel leaves more margin than cast iron against shock, vibration and pressure spikes — the conditions a valve actually meets in an engine room rather than on a test bench. - Throttling geometry. The disc lifts off a seated port and modulates flow across its travel, so one valve can trim a pump discharge or balance a branch rather than only stopping flow. - DN 50 to DN 300 in one design. The common engine-room and auxiliary sizes come from a single design, so flange drilling, bonnet joints and spares stay consistent across a vessel's list.
Materials & Pressure Testing
Cast steel is the reason this valve gets specified where cast iron will not do. The body of this cast steel globe valve is cast, the flange faces and bonnet joint are machined, and the valve is then assembled — a route that gives a tougher structure than a cast iron body of the same size when the line sees vibration, water hammer or a pump starting against a closed discharge. The bonnet joint is bolted, with a gasket between bonnet and body. That is the joint an engineer opens first if the valve starts to pass or the stem packing weeps, and it is made to be re-made with a fresh gasket rather than replaced as a sealed unit. Trim and packing are selected to suit what the line carries, so tell us the medium — fuel oil and lubricating oil ask for different internal selections from steam or seawater — and we will confirm the specification for that duty. Externally the body is painted for storage and transport protection, which is normal for a valve that may sit in a warehouse or on a quay before it is fitted. If your yard works to a particular paint system or colour, say so at enquiry. Pressure testing follows the standard for a 10K valve: a shell test on the body and a seat test on the closed valve, with the results recorded on the inspection document. Where a class society or inspection authority specifies its own test pressures, or wants the test witnessed, send those values with the enquiry so they are scheduled into production rather than added at the end.

Installation & Commissioning
- Check the line before anything is unbolted: confirm the pipe size (DN 50 to DN 300), that the line is 10K like this JIS marine valve, and that the mating flanges are drilled to JIS B2220. If they are not, stop and send the flange drawing first.
- Ask for the dimension sheet for the marine globe valve in your size before the dock date. Face-to-face length, flange outside diameter, bolt circle, bolt hole count and diameter, flange thickness, valve height, port dimensions and weight are listed per size, and those numbers decide whether the valve fits the space the old one came out of.
- Compare new against old on the bench. Overall height under the handwheel matters most where a pipe run passes close overhead or a hatch has to close above it.
- Fit new gaskets suited to the medium, align the flanges without pulling the pipe into position, and tighten the bolts in a cross pattern in stages rather than taking one bolt fully home at a time.
- Run the handwheel from fully closed to fully open before the line is pressurised. The disc should travel smoothly with no tight spot, and the handwheel should not need force at either end of the stroke.
- Bring the line up to pressure slowly, then check the bonnet joint and both flange joints for weeping. A weep at the bonnet is a gasket issue, not a reason to over-tighten the bolts.
- Record the size, the pressure class and the position on the tag list, so the next replacement is ordered from the same reference rather than measured again, and so gate valve manufacturers quoting the isolation items on the same list work from one set of numbers.
Marine & Cross-Standard Valve Range
- Marine 10K family. Screw-down check globe valves, angle valves and screw-down check angle valves are built to the same 10K marine pattern and the same JIS B2220 flange drilling, so a dry-dock list can be filled from one drawing set.
- Cast steel gate valve. Isolation models in the same pressure class, quoted alongside this valve where a line needs a shut-off device as well as a throttling one.
- Wedge gate valve. The large-bore isolation pattern; send the line list and we will confirm which sizes are open against your schedule.
- GOST steel gate valve. The Russian and Central Asian isolation reference, matched to the marking on the old body rather than to a translated catalogue number. The same desk works as a Russian standard gate valve manufacturer for projects that specify GOST end to end.
- API 600 gate valve. Quoted where a process line class calls for it, on the same reference-and-drawing basis as the marine items.
- Consolidated supply. Buyers who found us as gate valve manufacturers for their isolation ranges add their globe and check valves here; large-bore work goes through the wedge gate valve manufacturers side of the works.
Ordering & Delivery
- Send the size and quantity for each valve. DN and pressure class are enough to start; add the medium if you want the internal selection confirmed. 2. Confirm the flange drilling of the mating pipe. JIS B2220 is this model's pattern, and anything else needs the drawing before the order is fixed. 3. Say which documents your inspection needs — material certificate, shell and seat test record, or a witness point — so they are built into the schedule rather than arranged afterwards. 4. 5. Agree the marking and tag format if the yard or owner works to its own system. 6. Settle packing and route before the valves are crated. Valves bound for a shipyard are normally packed seaworthy with the bore capped and the handwheel protected, and the case marks should match the yard's receiving system; confirm the packing and shipping terms that apply to your order with your sales contact. 7. Fix the delivery date against the vessel's schedule rather than the order date — a dry-dock window is the constraint that matters. Confirm current lead time with your sales contact once sizes and documents are agreed. 8. Standards are matched item by item. A gost steel gate valve reference from a Russian project and this JIS marine valve can sit on the same list because each is checked against its own drawing, and the same applies where a line class specifies an api 600 gate valve.
Scale & Supply Capability
LONGYAO WOYU VALVE CO., LTD. is a valve manufacturing factory exporting to buyers in more than 40 countries, including Russia and Central Asia, Pakistan and South Asia, Korea and Vietnam, and the Middle East. We build to German DIN, Russian GOST, American ANSI/AWWA, Japanese JIS and British BS standards, so an importer can assemble a full catalogue across series from one supplier. Orders can ship under your own brand: we handle nameplates, packing marks and carton labelling to your artwork, with the authorisation documents agreed before production. Send your item list and we will confirm availability and delivery date.
FAQ
Where should this valve be used instead of a gate valve?
Use it where flow has to be set rather than simply stopped. The disc lifts off the seat and can be held part-open, so it trims flow and drops pressure at a pump discharge, a heater outlet or a branch take-off. A gate valve is a full-open or full-closed device, and throttling with one wears the gate and seat faces. Most engine-room systems carry both: the gate valve for isolation, this valve for regulation.
Which pipe flanges will it bolt to?
Both ports are flanged to JIS B2220 drilling, the pattern used by Japanese-standard marine pipe, and the sizes run from DN 50 to DN 300. If the mating pipe on your vessel is drilled to a different standard, send the flange drawing before ordering and we will check the bolt circle and hole count against it.
What media is it intended for?
Fuel oil, lubricating oil, water, air, gas and steam lines in engine-room and auxiliary service. The medium and the working temperature decide the internal selection, so tell us what the line carries and we will confirm the trim and packing for that duty before the valve is built.
What does 10K actually mean?
10K is the JIS pressure class marking on the valve, and it corresponds to 0.98 MPa nominal pressure. Match it to the class the line is designed to, not to the shut-off head of the pump feeding it.
Can the valve be serviced without cutting it out of the line?
Yes. The bonnet is bolted, so the joint can be broken in place and the stem, disc and seat reached with the body still in the pipe. Fit a new bonnet gasket on reassembly, keep the bore capped while the valve is open, and check the handwheel travel before the line goes back into service.
If I send a full engine-room list, will the flange patterns match across the items?
That is the point of buying a list from one works. The 10K marine family shares JIS B2220 drilling across the globe, check and angle patterns, and the cast steel gate valve sizes quoted for the same list are held to the same class. Throttling valves ordered alongside the isolation items come off the same schedule, so the flange pattern does not shift between items.
The old valve carries a GOST marking — can you match it?
Send a photograph of the marking together with the flange drawing. For Russian and Central Asian projects we work as a Russian standard gate valve manufacturer as well as supplying JIS marine valves, so a gost steel gate valve reference is matched on size, flange pattern and pressure class rather than on a translated catalogue number. Where a process line is specified as an api 600 gate valve, the same matching runs against the line class you send.
